Named after the Hon. Archibald Henry Peake (1859-1920), Premier of South Australia from 1909-1910 & 1912-1915.
The Peake Gardens Reserve was originally created in a subdivision by the State Bank of South Australia in 1921.
The initial development of the Reserve began with the construction of three tennis courts in 1930, while the remainder of the land was used as a cricket ground. Over time, the Reserve evolved, and today it is primarily used for tennis. The Peake Gardens Riverside Tennis Club now leases 14 tennis courts at the site.
PGRTC received a grant in June 2021 to redevelop its clubrooms, transforming the facility into a modern, inclusive space.
The upgrades include new male, female, and unisex change rooms, a dedicated coaches' room, and upgraded toilet facilities.
Additionally, the redevelopment features a spacious open area, a fully equipped commercial kitchen, a refreshed canteen, a stylish new bar, and a wooden deck, enhancing the club’s functionality and community appeal.
